Health Care
The University's health centre is available to all students of the Institute, and provides National Health Service registration for students living in certain areas of London. Students who are not registered with the University's health centre, should register with a local doctor near were they live.
Immigration
Overseas students (except from the EU countries) must comply with the immigration rules and should consult the nearest British Embassy or Consulate to obtain entry clearance in good time before coming to the UK. EU nationals require a residence permit for a stay of more than six months.
Students Union
Students of the Institute are entitled to become members of the University of London Union (ULU), located nearby. The Union provides social and sporting facilities, a range of services, and organises a varied programme of entertainments.
The Intercollegiate Postgraduate Law Society (IPLS), based at the Institute, provides an important social and academic focus for postgraduate law students registered at the six law schools of the University, and at the Institute.
Facilities
The Institute provides dedicated computing and common room/café facilities for its students. It also offers a two week intensive training course on research methodology. The School of Advanced Study also has its own common room, open to staff and students of all constituent institutes, which provides an opportunity for students to meet people working in other disciplines. It is the aim of both the Institute and the School to ensure that all of its registered students can have easy and convenient access to the facilities of all the Institutes, including their libraries, and to facilitate participation in the wide range of academic activities available within the School.
Student Representation
Provision is made for student representation on the Institute's Advisory Council and the Board of the School of Advanced Study.
